Google Analytics is a powerful tool that allows you to track and analyze the traffic and behavior of your visitors on your Flipsnack publications. If you have a custom domain for your Flipsnack account, you can easily install Google Analytics on it and get insights into your audience’s preferences and actions.

There are two ways to install Google Analytics on your custom domain: directly through Flipsnack or using Google Tag Manager integration. In this article, we will show you how to do both.

Installing Google Analytics on your custom domain directly through Flipsnack

This is a simple and quick way to install Google Analytics on your custom domain. All you need is a Google Analytics account along with the tracking ID to install it in your Flipsnack account.

Warning: The downside of installing Google Analytics this way is that if your readers are located in Europe they would not have the option to disable the tracking cookies so you would not be fully GDPR compliant. That is why in that case we would recommend installing Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager and setting up the cookie consent banner.

Using Google Tag Manager integration

Google Tag Manager is a tool that allows you to manage and deploy various tags, such as Google Analytics, on your custom domain that is connected to Flipsnack without having to edit the code.

After integrating Google Analytics into your Google Tag Manager container, the next step is adding your GTM ID to your Flipsnack account.

By using Google Tag Manager to connect Google Analytics, you can implement a cookie banner that allows your readers located in Europe to choose the type of cookies they want to allow or disable, making you GDPR compliant.

Once you have set up the cookie banner, you need to activate the cookie policy link in Flipsnack. To do so, while in the Main dashboard, click on Branding, then Settings. There, add your Google Tag manager, the Cookie policy link, and toggle the Show cookie policy link on. Once done, Click on the Save changes button.

When your Google Analytics is added to the Google Tag Manager container that is connected to your Flipsnack account, all that's left to do is configure the consent options for the Google Analytics tag.

If you are already using a custom tool to integrate the cookie banner on your website, you can integrate it with your Flipsnack account that is used with a custom domain.
