How to move, resize, duplicate, and delete page elements

Drag, scale, copy, lock, fade or remove anything on a flipbook page

Overview

Every element on a flipbook page is formatted the same way, whatever it is. Select it on the page, then use the Layers panel on the right to move, resize, duplicate, lock, fade or delete it. Those controls work on text boxes, photos, videos, audio, GIFs, shapes, links and interactions alike, so there is one set of steps to learn instead of nine.

You add elements from the left sidebar. Pick the section you need, then place the element on your page.

Move and resize an element

  • Click the element and drag it where you want it. Hold Shift while you drag to keep it on a straight line.
  • Handles appear at the corners and along the sides of a selected element. Drag any handle to change the size. Your cursor turns into a double-ended arrow when you are over one.

To line several elements up with each other rather than by eye, use the row of align icons at the top of the Layers panel.

Duplicate an element

Select the element, then click Duplicate element in the Layers panel. The copy lands on the same page, ready to move.

Lock an element so it cannot move

Select the element and click Lock in the Layers panel. A locked element stays where it is while you work on the rest of the page. Click Lock again to unlock it.

To lock the font, the color or the text itself rather than the position, right-click the element and choose Advanced lock.

Fade an element with Transparency

Select one element or several, then click Transparency in the Layers panel. Drag the slider to choose how much of the page shows through. A photo at low transparency makes a background your text can still be read over.

Delete an element

Select the element and click Delete element in the Layers panel.

Repeat an element on every page

Select the element. In the Layers panel footer, click the Add on all pages icon. The element becomes a master layer, so one edit changes it on every page at once.

To take it off again, right-click it and choose Delete from all pages. Master layers: add an element to every page at once covers the rest, including how to leave it off your cover.

Troubleshooting

  • The element will not move or resize: it is locked. Select it and click Lock in the Layers panel to unlock it.
  • You keep selecting the wrong element: two of them overlap. Pick the one you want from the list in the Layers panel instead of clicking the page.
  • Your edit changed every page: the element is a master layer, and a master layer is one layer shown on all pages. Edit it on the page where you want it, or remove it from all pages and place a normal copy.
