What to do if you can't change your background color

Restore an editable branding field that grayed out after a downgrade

Custom background colors are part of Flipsnack's Branding feature, available on higher-tier plans. If you set a background color while you had access to Branding, the color stays saved on your flipbook — but the setting becomes read-only once your plan no longer includes the feature.

This usually happens in one of three situations:

  • You downgraded to a plan that doesn't include Branding.
  • Your subscription expired or was canceled.
  • You set the color during a Free Trial, back when trials gave temporary access to premium features.

The fix is the same in all three cases.

Steps to resolve a locked background color

  • Check what your current plan includes. Open your Billing settings to see your active subscription, or compare our plans to find one that includes Branding.
  • Upgrade to unlock the setting. Once Branding is active on your account, you can change the background color freely again — on this flipbook and any other.
  • Or ask us to reset it. If you'd rather return the flipbook to the default background than upgrade, contact support and we'll reset it for you.
