We keep saying how Flipsnack is an all-in-one publishing tool, and we’re not kidding. You may have already used the feature of adding links in your online publications, but today we’re showing you a little trick: adding phone links in your brochures, directly through the Design Studio. This way, your clients will now be able to contact you while browsing your real-estate brochure or business brochure and, eventually, book an appointment.
Therefore, this method will come in handy and will complete your brochure or any other publication, while making it more effective.
What are phone links?
“Call-able” phone links are essentially edited hyperlinks that allow your clients to call you directly through your published brochure. Thus, there’s no need for another link to your contact page and so on, making the process a lot smoother and simpler.
Bear in mind that you’ll have to upgrade your subscription plan if you want to use this feature.
How do phone links work?
The whole process of adding a phone link is very straightforward. Start by entering our Design Studio in Flipsnack, and from there you can choose to edit an existing publication or start from scratch. In either case, the next step is to add a Link button (link element or hyperlink).
And the last thing you need to do is inserting the phone number in the URL space. We’ll get into even more detail later in the article.
We already mentioned how you can choose between two options when it comes to adding phone links to your brochure/catalog in Flipsnack:
Using a link element
Using a hyperlink
Using a link element
Whether you’re creating a new brochure or simply editing an existing one, you can use the link button, and start editing it like this: insert your phone number in the URL space (e.g., tel:555 555-1234). Check out the image below to see exactly how it should look.
Next thing is to change the tooltip wording, thus making it even clearer as to what that link does (e.g., Click here to call!) This text will appear when the user hovers the mouse over the Link button.
Last but not least, make sure that the target is set to “_self”, to ensure the opening of the link in the same frame it was clicked on. See the example below for further clarification.
In our case, there will be a phone link generated. Depending on the device that you’re using, on click, the phone will dial the number, and on the computer, it will ring automatically. Keep in mind that for computers, you have to install or set up the software for phone calls, such as Skype or web Whatsapp.
Using a Hyperlink
If you want to use a hyperlink, it’s just as easy, but pay attention to set the action to URL, and then continue with the same steps as presented in the Link element section above. Remember to add the term “tel:” before inserting your phone number.
Take into account that you can add hyperlinks over any type of element in your brochure or presentation, making it even more seamless and its integration will be more natural.
