How to embed unlisted or private Vimeo videos in a flipbook

Combine an iframe code with a pop-up frame on Enterprise accounts

Flipsnack supports embedding unlisted Vimeo videos into your flipbooks. To ensure your video remains hidden on Vimeo but still functional in Flipsnack, specific privacy and embed settings must be configured. This guide is tailored for Enterprise users who want to embed Vimeo videos securely.

Requirements

  • Plan: Enterprise only. Pro and Business do not support iframe embedding for unlisted Vimeo videos. See YouTube or Vimeo embeds troubleshooting
  • Make sure the video’s embed settings remain set to “Anywhere” on Vimeo, or it won’t load inside Flipsnack.

Vimeo privacy settings explained

Vimeo allows you to host videos with various privacy levels. For embedding in Flipsnack, use the Unlisted option. 

  • Unlisted / Hidden from Vimeo: Not publicly listed on Vimeo, but still accessible through a direct or embedded link.

    To make this work inside your flipbook, your video must allow embedding anywhere, even if it remains private or unlisted on Vimeo. 

To successfully embed your video in a Flipsnack flipbook while keeping it hidden from public view on Vimeo, you'll need to configure your privacy settings so that the video is set to Unlisted, but the embed option is enabled for 'Anywhere'.

Step-by-step guide

1. Upload Your Video to Vimeo

  • Log in to your Vimeo account.
  • Click on the New Video button and upload your desired file.
  • Once uploaded, go to the video's Sharing options.

2. Set the Video Privacy Settings

  • Under the Privacy tab:

    • Who can watch? → Choose Unlisted.

    • Where can this be embedded? → Select Anywhere.

This combination ensures your video does not appear on Vimeo publicly but remains embeddable inside your Flipsnack flipbook.

3. Copy the Iframe Embed Code

  • In the same Settings panel, go to the Embed tab.

  • Click Copy Embed Code.

    It should appear like:

4. Open Your Flipbook in Flipsnack

  • Log in to your Flipsnack account.
  • Navigate to the flipbook where you want to add the video.
  • Click Edit to open the Design Studio.

5. Add the Video as a Pop-up Frame

  • From the left panel, choose Interactivity → Pop-up Frame or Embed.
  • Drag the pop-up frame or embed interaction onto your page, resize and edit as needed.
  • Paste the Vimeo iframe code into the embed box.

6. Save and Publish

  • Click Save and then Publish your flipbook.
  • When readers click the pop-up area, the Vimeo video will open and play, without being visible on Vimeo’s public platform.
