Sharing flipbooks via email explained

Learn how to share your flipbooks via email in Flipsnack and when viewers are required to log in

There are several ways to share a flipbook via email using Flipsnack:

1. Send via Flipsnack

Go to Details → Click Share → Choose Send Email.

Depending on your plan:

  • Enterprise users can customize branding and send to up to 1,000 contacts.

  • Other plans allow sending to one email address at a time.

2. Send Using Your Own Email Provider

You can embed your flipbook in platforms like:

  • Mailgun

  • Amazon SES

  • Thunderbird

  • Gmail (via Chrome extensions like HTML Inserter for Gmail or GMass)

Do Viewers Need a Flipsnack Account?

The need for account login depends on the visibility settings you choose when publishing:

Visibility Option Login Required? Available On Plan
Public No All plans
Unlisted No Starter+
Password Locked No (needs password) Professional+
Private (email-based) Yes – Flipsnack account required Business, Enterprise

Important: If your flipbook is set to Private and shared by email, the recipient must log in to a Flipsnack account (or create one) to access it. This is ideal for internal communications or high-security content.

To allow easier access without requiring sign-in, set your flipbook to:

  • Unlisted (shared via link, not searchable online)

  • Password Locked (adds a layer of protection without login)

How to Choose the Right Visibility Option

When you publish a flipbook, click the Share Now button and choose from:

  • Public – visible to everyone, indexed by search engines

  • Unlisted – visible only via link, not indexed

  • Password Locked – access protected by password

  • Private – restricted to specific users with Flipsnack login

  • One Time Password –OTP securely shares flipbooks externally without Flipsnack account needed

Important: OTP delivered via email upon an access request; needs access to the recipient email address; is available with the Enterprise plan

Enterprise users can even set a default visibility across the workspace and restrict other options.
