How to connect Flipsnack and Klaviyo through Zapier

Send lead form submissions from your flipbooks straight into Klaviyo profiles and flows

Table of contents

Overview

Your flipbooks collect reader data all day: email addresses from lead forms, quiz answers, shopping list orders. The catch is that this data sits in Flipsnack while your email marketing happens in Klaviyo. Someone exports a CSV, someone else imports it, and the follow-up email goes out days late.

Zapier connects the two. When a reader fills in a form inside your flipbook, Zapier picks it up and passes it to Klaviyo, where a profile is created and an automated email can go out within minutes.

This guide covers the most common setup: lead form submissions into Klaviyo. Once that’s running, the same approach works for quizzes, orders, and reader questions.

Requirements

Note: The Zapier integration is available starting with the Business plan, and your API key is found under Settings → Integrations. Lead forms are available starting with the Professional plan. On the Klaviyo side, any plan works, including the free one. If you’re not sure which Flipsnack plan you’re on, contact the Flipsnack team.

Use cases

  • Marketing. A gated brochure collects emails, and Klaviyo sends the follow-up automatically.
  • Product catalogs. An order sent from a digital catalog triggers a confirmation email before your team opens the inbox.
  • Sales materials. New leads land in the right Klaviyo list, tagged by which document they opened.

How the integration works

Data travels in one direction: Flipsnack → Zapier → Klaviyo.

1
Flipsnack
A reader fills in the lead form inside your published flipbook.
2
Zapier
Picks up the submission on its next check and passes the fields along.
3
Klaviyo
Creates or updates a profile, ready to drop into a list or a flow.
One direction only. Klaviyo cannot send data back into a flipbook.

Every Zap you build therefore starts with Flipsnack and ends with Klaviyo.

Instructions

The whole setup is a two-step Zap.

1
Trigger · Flipsnack
New Lead Form Data
Fires when someone submits the lead form on the flipbook you select.
2
Action · Klaviyo
Create or Update Profile
Receives the fields and writes them to a Klaviyo profile, matched on email address.

Step 1 — Get your Flipsnack API key

  • Log in to your Flipsnack account.
  • Open Settings from the App header.
  • Go to the Integrations tab.
  • Copy your API key.

Step 2 — Connect Klaviyo to Zapier

  • Log in to Klaviyo and open the app marketplace.
  • Add Zapier as an app.
  • Generate a private API key and copy it.

Step 3 — Set the trigger

  • Log in to Zapier and click Create Zap.
  • For the trigger app, select Flipsnack, then choose New Lead Form Data.
  • Paste your Flipsnack API key when prompted, then select the flipbook you want to listen to.
  • Click Test trigger to pull in a recent submission.

Tip: if the test returns no data, submit the form on your own flipbook once, then test again. Zapier needs at least one existing record before it can show you the fields.

Step 4 — Add the Klaviyo action and map your fields

  • Click the + button to add an action step, select Klaviyo, and choose Create or Update Profile.
  • Paste your Klaviyo private API key.
  • Map the fields as follows:
Flipsnack lead form field
Klaviyo field
Email address
Email — required, identifies the profile
Full name
First name and Last name
Phone number
Phone number, in E.164 format such as +40712345678
Country / region
Country
Any other form field
A custom property, such as Source Flipbook
  • Click Test step and check that the profile appears in Klaviyo.

Step 5 — Publish

  • Rename the Zap something you’ll recognise later, such as Flipsnack lead form → Klaviyo.
  • Click Publish.

New submissions now flow into Klaviyo automatically. From there, add the profile to a list or a welcome flow as you normally would.

What else you can send to Klaviyo

The same setup works with any of these Flipsnack triggers — just swap the trigger in Step 3.

Flipsnack trigger
Fires when
Typical use
New Lead Form Data
Someone fills in your lead capture form
Newsletter sign-ups, gated brochures
New Contact Form Data
Someone fills in a contact form
Enquiry follow-ups
New Quiz Data
Someone completes a quiz

New Question Data
Someone answers a question
Reader feedback, polls
New Shopping List Order
Someone sends an order
Catalog order confirmations
New Trackable Link Statistics
Views, time spent or downloads change
Engagement scoring

On the Klaviyo side, Add Profile to List and Subscribe Profile are useful next actions. For more advanced setups, Create Event logs a custom event that can trigger a Klaviyo flow directly and carry details like a quiz score or order total.

Troubleshooting

What to do if the Zap test returns no data: Flipsnack needs at least one existing record for that trigger. Submit the form on your published flipbook yourself, then test again.

What to do if profiles are duplicated in Klaviyo: you’re most likely using Create Profile instead of Create or Update Profile. Switch the action and check that the email field is mapped correctly.

What to do if you can’t find the Zapier integration in your account: the integration starts with the Business plan. If you’re on a lower plan, contact the Flipsnack team or reach out via live chat.

Frequently asked questions

Can Klaviyo send data back into Flipsnack?

No. Data only travels from Flipsnack to Klaviyo.

How quickly does data reach Klaviyo?

Zapier checks Flipsnack on a schedule set by your Zapier plan, so expect a short delay — minutes rather than seconds.

Can I embed a live flipbook inside a Klaviyo email?

No. Email clients don’t render embedded flipbooks. Use an animated GIF or the cover image linked to your flipbook URL instead.

Do I need a paid Zapier plan?

The setup in this guide runs on the Zapier free plan. Adding filters or extra steps requires a paid Zapier tier.
