Overview
When you upload a PDF to Flipsnack, it converts into JPG images. While this allows for a fast flipbook creation process, the image quality may sometimes be lower, resulting in slightly blurry pages or difficult-to-read text.
To improve this experience, we’ve introduced WebP compression—a modern image format that delivers better quality at smaller file sizes. This ensures that flipbooks look sharper and pages load more quickly, creating a more seamless experience for readers.
And since every user has different needs, you can now toggle this setting on or off, based on your priorities: speed or quality.
Key benefits of WebP compression
-
Sharper image quality: Clearer, more legible text and visuals
-
User-controlled experience: Choose between standard or high-quality compression.
Requirements
-
Plan: Available to all Flipsnack plans
-
Flipbook type: Applies to any flipbook created from an uploaded PDF
Step-by-step guide
1. Upload your PDF in Flipsnack as you usually would. Before publishing, in Design Studio, go to Settings in the side-navigation panel in the Flipbook editor.
Important: If you set a new conversion option, it will only apply to new uploads or if you replace the existing PDF.
2. In Settings, click on General and locate the section labeled PDF Conversion Quality. You can choose between:
- Standard Quality: Faster conversion and lower image clarity
- High Quality (WebP): Slower conversion time but improved image quality and performance
Important: The High Quality setting uses WebP instead of JPG for clearer visuals and better performance. It will take longer to convert.
By default, Standard quality is applied to your workspace. You can switch to High quality anytime before publishing.
This gives you the flexibility to test both options—if you find the conversion time too long or don’t need the extra sharpness, simply toggle back to Standard for a faster result
