Overview

Deactivating a flipbook lets you remove it from public view without deleting it. This is helpful when you no longer want the flipbook accessible online but want to retain its statistics, embed settings, or reuse it later. 

Key benefits

  1. Temporary removal: hide your flipbook from public access without deleting it.

  2. Preserve data: keep analytics, stats, and settings intact for future use. 

  3. Flexible republishing: republish the flipbook anytime after deactivation.

Requirements

  1. Available for Business, Team and Enterprise plans.
  2. Applies to all published flipbooks. 

Common use cases

  1. Temporarily hide seasonal campaign assets without losing analytics. 

  2. Pause access to internal documentation or event guides.  

  3. Limit access to time-sensitive product catalogs. 

  4. Remove outdated training manuals without deleting team performance data. 

How to deactivate a flipbook

  1. Go to My flipbooks.

  2. Select the flipbook you want to deactivate.

  3. Click on the three dots (⋮) on the right.

  4. Select Deactivate flipbook from the dropdown.

A confirmation message will appear and you'll have to click on Yes to deactivate your flipbook.

Once deactivated:

  1. The flipbook will no longer be accessible via link or embed.

  2. It will display as Inactive.

  3. You can still access its Details and Statistics.

Warning:

  1. If the deactivation option is not visible, make sure the selected flipbook is already published. 
  2. If you shared a flipbook by email with certain people and then deactivate it, their email addresses will be removed. When you republish the flipbook, you’ll need to add them again.

 

Schedule flipbook deactivation date

This feature allows you to automatically deactivate a flipbook at a set date and time. It's perfect for time-sensitive publications like promotions, seasonal catalogs, or event materials.

Here’s how it works:
  1. In Design Studio, click the Share now button located in the upper-right corner.

  2. Add a title and description, select the visibility, then click the arrow next to the Publish button.
  3. Choose Set inactive date, then select the date and hour you want the flipbook to be deactivated. Click Schedule to confirm. The selected deactivation date and time will appear under the description box, as shown below.
  4. Once everything is set, click Publish.

Note: If the flipbook is already published, follow the same steps. The only difference is that the Publish button will appear as Upload instead.

How to change or remove the deactivation date? 

There are 2 ways to change or remove the scheduled deactivation of your flipbook. 

From My flipbooks

1. Locate the flipbook and click directly on the deactivation date displayed on the flipbook card.

From the Details page

1. When in My flipbooks, select the desired flipbook and click on Details

2. Use the Edit icon to change the scheduled deactivation or click the Remove icon to delete it.

FAQs

  • Can I reactivate a flipbook later? Yes. Just click on Publish and select a new visibility setting.

  • What visibility can I choose after deactivation? Any, including Unlisted, even if it was Public before.
